Covid-19 Plan for parents & students- 05/05/20
Dear Dansations families,
I hope this email is finding everyone healthy and safe. On behalf of everyone at Dansations, We would like to say, thank you for all of the support and patience you have extended to us. We are very grateful for our extraordinary dance family. As hard as it is to be apart, it has been a true blessing to be able to stay connected through our dance videos, social media and Zoom.
As we all know, NYS schools are closed for the remainder of the year. I expect, that while many of us knew this was coming, it was still hard to hear the official announcement. This is an extremely difficult time for our children. We want to help in any way we can. We hope that our daily spot-light student program on social media as well as our new complimentary Zoom classes offer some joy and relief to your dancers.
NYS has announced a realistic and achievable 4 phase plan to re-open businesses. At this time, it is uncertain when these phases will begin and how long each phase will be. We do not know when it will be safe to re-open Dansaitons. But we do know we will open again! And when we do, we intend to finish the year and give these children a chance to perform!
As we look forward to re-opening- we have developed a tentative plan for when we return. The plan is outlined below. Once we do return, new health and sanitation measures will be taken to keep the studio and our children safe. We will send details on new health and sanitation procedures once a return date is officially announced.
Tentative Return Plan (date TBD based on State Guidlines)
A creative recital alternative is in the works! We have something big & exciting planed, stay tuned and check your emails!
We tentatively have Rockwell Hall booked the week of July 27- August 2. Exact dates and times will be announced once we confirm a return date. Recital will be completely different (but equally as impressive!) than ever before as we will intend to meet the state’s health and safety guidelines.
Picture Day- Date TBA pending return date – pictures will be spaced out to limit number of people in the studio, and to allow for sanitizing between classes. We will be doing individual pictures only. Group pictures will be a collage of the individuals. Everything will follow State & Federal guidelines. We ask that only one adult, with a face mask, to accompany each child. A detailed schedule will be released once we confirm a return date.
We will not be charging April or May Tuition. We will resume tuition upon our return.
FAQ
Will kids be able to remember their dances?
A child’s capacity to learn, overcome and conqueror should never be underestimated! What seems impossible for our adult brains, children learn in seconds. It is amazing what they are capable of accomplishing. Our staff are well trained professionals who are fully confident that we will be able to get these kids ready for stage and looking better than ever! If your children have enjoyed the videos we sent out, that will be a huge help in keeping the dance fresh in their minds. However, dance should not be a source of added stress or pressure. If they do not want to do the videos, no big deal! We will get them caught up in class when we return!
What is the point of finishing this year?
We know it would be easier to quit, but we want to keep trying for our dancers. In a year, where so many things were left unfinished, let’s give our kids something to finish. Let’s give our kids the gift of dance, the joy of movement, camaraderie and the sense of accomplishing something! They have worked so hard and learned so much this year. They were doing so well and working so hard and then everything, without warning came to a halt. If at all possible, these kids deserve to be able to return to dance, finish the year and be able to say, “Good bye, see you next season!”
What if the costume no longer fits?
Costume companies understand the unique situation and will do their best to size exchange! If needed, the Dansations staff will be happy to help you get the right size, or help alter the costume, so your child can feel comfortable on stage!
What if we have a vacations planned?
If you need to miss a week or 2 of classes for scheduled vacations, that is fine!!! I think we ALL could benefit from a vacation! If your vacation is scheduled for recital, we will be happy to work something out at dress rehearsal, so your family can see your dancer on stage! If you are gone for dress rehearsal, but will be back for recital, no problem! We will work with your dancer before they go on stage at recital. If you will be away that whole week of dress rehearsal and recital, we truly apologies for the inconvenience. Simply bring in your vacation reservations (you can show us confirmations on your phones if that is easiest) and we will be happy to credit your recital fee towards next season (this fee is typically non-refundable).
