Dansations School of Dance and Acrobatics

Why Your Teenage Son or Daughter Would Love Dance!

We know that for many people, especially teenagers, dance might not be the first thing they think about trying out for the first time. With TikTok and other trends, however, dancing has become a bit more popular as kids have come out of their shells a bit more. We believe there’s something in dance for both boys and girls that’s worth giving it a chance, or considering it as something to try in the future. Dansations has some of the best dancing classes in WNY, and we believe your kid will find it right to show us the talent you have!

Emotional Growth and Self-Expression

Let’s talk about the kids first. After all, that’s what this blog is meant to be about. We want you as a parent to feel comfortable knowing that we believe dance is something that can be beneficial for your kid. We understand that you might perceive that some negative stuff will come from it, like pressure or a bad injury, or another example with boys is that dancing makes them look too “girly”. Reasons that can be understood at first, but also come from people who were already not willing to try, or have biases that come from being hateful.

Dancing is a physical and expressive activity that gives people a way to show who they are inside and outside for various reasons. We say as much on our about page what dance can do for you: “Dance is a gift that can teach children respect, commitment, independence, and teamwork, while allowing for self-expression.”

There’s a level of emotional growth there as well that comes with what we want all of our kids to express. It’s a good way to learn and be something you didn’t expect would make you an amazing person. The best thing we want out of your kids!

Physical Fitness Without the Pressure of Playing Sports

At an early age, just about every kid is pressured into trying out a sport to have some fun outside with physical activity, or also to make new friends. Dance offers both physical activity and a place for kids to find those friends they’ve been looking for, without the pressure of thinking that a regular sport is needed for that experience.

The other great thing about dance that actually relates to sports is that there are different kinds of dance, just as there are different sports to play. For dance, there’s Baby & Me, Kiddie Combo, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Hip-Hop & Acrobatics, and Contemporary. You have a wide range of options for any possible experience, and there’s no worry if you don’t like one and want to change to another.

Having Good Role Models That Aren’t Just Parents or Teachers

As teenagers, our kids find that at their age, seeking out good role models will be best for their long-term future, as far as who inspires them or teaches them well enough to succeed. Aside from school teachers or parents, they can also find personal role models in dance instructors to learn from.

Our team is filled with passionate and dedicated teachers who want to make your kids grow and learn their dance skills with ease, but most importantly, with nothing but fun in mind.

Career and Creative Opportunities

Finally, let’s talk about the future. Hypothetically, your kid could become interested enough in dance to where they want to consider participating in competition for dance or treat it as a career profession in the future as a instructor or competitor. It helps benefit young teens in professions like acting, fitness, or arts administration. Something else you might not think about is that it helps with college applications. Colleges love seeing this kind of extracurricular activity, just like how they like seeing regular sports, if you want to become a student athlete.

With all of that being said, if you’re a parent who is looking for personal experiences to be your last major selling point, read some of them on our About Us page at the bottom to see what people have said!
